Partial acquittal in terrorism case

On October 1, 2024, the Rotterdam District Court acquitted a client of Mr. Horenblas for participating in a terrorist organization (art. 140a DPC ) and for acts of preparation for terrorist crimes (art. 96 paragraph 2 DPC). A conviction did follow for bringing and leaving his minor child in a helpless condition by taking her to a war zone (art. 255 DPC). For this the Rotterdam District Court imposed a prison sentence of twelve months. Since the client in question had already been on remand for some time, he was released shortly after the verdict.
